5 Signs That You Should Take a Medical Imaging Procedure

Nothing else should be more important than anyone’s health. With an active body, healthy mind, and a maintained wellness, people are more capable of doing greater things and living with positivity. It is beneficial to keep track of your health condition from time to time. That’s why physicians would always recommend everyone to undergo a medical imaging procedure and screenings in order to check the current stance of each body part.

Not because you don’t feel any pain or symptom at all doesn’t mean you’re safe enough from all risks. Most diseases are sometimes tricky that you wouldn’t know you have it unless you consult a doctor. Or if you feel like something’s wrong with how your body system works, consult a medical expert right away. The earlier you figure out a certain disease is the earlier to keep it from more serious medication. Here are a few signs that you might need to take certain medical imaging and screening procedures to better determine your health status:

Chest pain, shortness of breath, and chronic cough

You can’t just ignore these types of symptoms for they can be causes of lung failures such as emphysema, pneumonia, or lung cancer for worst. Your doctor would let you undergo an X-ray procedure to locate where exactly these symptoms are coming from. This imaging process can also identify the absence or presence of fluids surrounding your lungs.

It will always scare you whenever you feel like there’s a lump in any part of your body. And it’s important to know whether a lump is benign or malignant. Benign lumps may not be as harmful as the ones that are found malignant. To determine a lump type, you will be asked to undergo an imaging procedure that will best work for your case,  this could be a CT Scan, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), or mammography.

Abdominal pain, swollen belly, and vomiting

Digestive disorders may lead to more serious cases if not diagnosed earlier and treated immediately. If you experience pain in the abdomen or swollen belly with repeated vomiting, then something might be wrong with your system. Most doctors will recommend taking an ultrasound testing to better visualize abnormalities from the stomach.

Muscle injuries

Experiencing muscle pain due to an accident can be a result of any skeletal disorder such as fractures, tears of ligaments and tendons, osteomyelitis infections, or tumors that are found in joints and bones. In place of enduring the pain, consult a doctor to examine your bones and muscles through Musculoskeletal MRI. The procedure will help radiologists evaluate the image of active diseases caused by injuries.

Neck vein swelling, tightness of the throat, difficulty in breathing

These irregularities are the most common symptoms of goiter which often leads to thyroid cancer in some occurrences. Radiologists mostly use a Computer Tomography (CT) platform to screen large goiters that are hardly seen in image results from Ultrasound and evaluate thyroid nodules whether they are potentially cancerous or not.

These are few of the symptoms that you shouldn’t be ignored at all. Remember, negligence will only make the situation worse so you need to take immediate action towards any suspicious signs of common diseases. You are encouraged to take medical screenings, with or without feeling any symptom, only to confirm the status of your health. Although medical imaging procedures aren’t necessary unless the doctor asked for a more detailed reference to fully verify the patient’s health condition. Platforms for the screening process may vary according to your case and depending on the doctor’s advice.
