Govt. to Continue with Cross Holding Restrictions in DTH: MIB

These days, broadcasting else cable TV organization unable to hold more than 20% support in DTH Company, also a DTH organization couldn’t acknowledge more than 20% in telecasting or in a cable TV organization. The Ministry of information and broadcasting (MIB) has agreed the Inter Ministerial Committee’s (IMC) advices to continue with the cross holding for the enclosure in the rules for direct to home administrators.

The telecom controller TRAI has outfitted his suggestions on takeovers of "Issue relating media management" to the service on 12th August 2014, while the one related to 'Issue identified with New DTH License' was issued on 23rd July 2014. The MIB has an incorporate MIC to process the suggestions got from TRAI. The IMC analyses the proposals of TRAI and gives its remarks/suggestions for approval of the service.

The Minister of state in the service of data broadcasting Rajyavardhan Rathore said in the Rajya Sabha: "IMC while examining the TRAI's proposals dated 23.07.2014 on 'Issue identified with New DTH License' has watched that the matter of cross-holding in DTH Connection must be thought about in the bigger set of other TRAI suggestion on cross-media property."

He specified: Hence, the IMC prescribed that the limitations in the current rules may proceed till the issue is comprehensively settled. The proposals of IMC on the Issue have been acknowledged by this Ministry."
